Supid computer stuff

I’m waiting for Enovia to quit being stupid in class today. As usual, I’m held up by technology that is supposed to make our lives easier. Keep in mind too, this is a classroom environment, where everything is supposed to be sterile, and work properly, but no, it has to be stupid.

I should be working on my final drawing for my perspective class, but I’m out of ideas and the whole thing is boring me. If I could afford to take the D I would, but Boeing wants a C, so I have to do it, just so I don’t have to pay them for the class. I don’t know why I thought pursuing concurrent bachelors degrees would be a good idea, it puts a lot on my plate. More than I should be eating :) Yes, I shouldn’t be eating this crap! I say that a lot lately. It’s been hard to put the stress eating on the back burner recently. Next term I don’t have any classes that will require me to do much critical thinking though. I am also planning on taking the summer off from my engineering tech classes. I need the break, it’s been too way much. I may take the summer off from the graphic classes as well, but that’s still up in the air, it’s all online.

I’m tired of being broke from only working 40 hours a week too. We get by, but my checking account is starting to cry, they should have left me in my old group where I was busy and productive, at least I was accomplishing something instead of staring at my computer attempting (unsuccessfully) to look busy, when all I was doing was playing on facebook or doing homework. Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise, as I was able to successfully complete my chemistry class without having to hurl myself off of a cliff, but I still wish I didn’t feel like I perpetually on the chopping block at work because my group doesn’t have a clear statement of work yet.

I wish I just cared. I don’t anymore.

I still can’t find my camera cord, sorry bout that. Dan and I are actively looking, we know it has to be in this basement somewhere. I’m bummed because I have some great pics and videos I want to upload, but it will have to wait.

I just finished my second full week actually on the job. Things seem to be going pretty well. Without going into specifics, I’ve successfully taken care of 2 of my first 5 official change notices. My dislike for Catia and Dassault Systemes grows every day though. Their database is as crabby and complicated,  and tends to throw as many of what I call ” Le Bitch Le Fits” as their CAD system. Yes, it’s very powerful, but it’s also cranky, picky, and often ambiguous about what it wants from you.  I literally spent all day today trying to figure out one little thing. Granted, when you have over a million parts and models to go thru, things can go slow, but there has to be limits.

Other than the fact that the software has a tendency to be cranky, I am really enjoying my job. People weren’t lying when they said it was a great company to work for.  I rarely see my first level manager, although he seems like a pretty good guy. The guys on my team speak pretty highly of him. My leads are laid back, and answer my questions patiently, as does my checker. All around, I’m having a blast at work.

Things are kind of lonely on the social life front. I really need to get my drink on, but there’s no grandma around to take the girls for me, it’s a sad thing.  I really miss my friends and family, and go through some depression here and there. It really has been absolutely gorgeous here though. We just got our first bit of daytime rain this week, and it’s been sunny and gorgeous the other days.

I sent in my admissions application to Oregon Institute of Technology today, they run classes at the plant, so it will make going back to school easier. I just need to get my transcripts sent in from the other schools I have attended, and I should be good to go for the fall semester.

Thats about all I have to report here, Amelia is being too quiet, so I have to go check on her.

I wish I had some pictures to be able to show you, but my computer is on the fritz, and I’m not sure what it’s problem is. I’ve been trying for 3 days to render a new scene that I worked on, and it keeps freezing on me, and I’m just ready to drop-kick it out the window. Now the internet is being stupid and I’m having issues uploading photos.  SO, you get some nice text based blogging, with photos to follow.

The last couple of days of our trip were hectic. We left our hotel room in Columbus, Montana, and headed across the state.  Monotonous and boring, just like the rest of the western states. Really, with the exception of where we had stayed, it didn’t provide me with much to blog about. I was so disappointed. As we approached the western side of the state however, we began to see mountains. It’s really very pretty, and the conversation went something like this.

Dan: Look at fog hanging on those mountains.

Me: That’s not fog, thats <expletive> snow.

Dan: <Expletive>

After we fought our way through a few passes, we stopped for the night in St. Regis, MT. OK, so its the LAST hotel before you hit Idaho that allows pets, and the last one before the last pass through the mountains.  Never, ever, ever stay at this Super 8. The owner is a total bitch who will scam you out of your pet deposit, even if your pets did nothing wrong. She claimed my dogs shed in the bed, and now the linens would have to be changed. Like she wouldn’t have to change the linens between guests anyway! She claimed A) The bed was mussed (GEE, sorry lady, I wasn’t aware we weren’t supposed to SLEEP in the beds) and B) My dogs left a hair on the bed (I have poodles, they don’t shed)

Anyway, biggest scam ever. I’m totally posting this on hotels.com too.

So we headed through Idaho, at least they plow their roads, unlike Montana. On the way out of MT though, we saw a sign for The Testicle Festival, no kidding. Google it, I about skidded off the road because I was laughing so hard.

More mountain passes, more icky weather.

Finally we get to Washington, I wish I had a “welcome to Washington” pic to show you, but my photographer was slacking.

We went to look at houses today, there are three we are especially interested in, but they want a 50 dollar application  fee per person, no couples discount, so we don’t know if we’re willing to fork over a hundred bucks to these clowns or not. Right now we’re waiting on a couple emails from people I got in touch with about houses.

Thats about it, I go fill out paperwork tomorrow morning at 7:30am in bad traffic. Yay me.

Ok, I have a question for starters. Lately I’ve been using Firefox as a browser, but today I am writing in Internet Explorer. Does anyone know why using Wordpress in Firefox is making my computer type backwards? I navigate to the page and then I click in the field to begin typing. Instead of typing, it navigates BACK to the browser bar, and types backwards. Soooo, if anyone knows wtf is happening here, I would appreciate some input.
