My kids

a long time since I wrote anything here. I apologize for that, things have been kind of crazy with the holidays, work and school starting back up. I’m taking a Saturday morning chemistry class, in addition an online class about how to learn online, and economics.

So I’ll make this quick and get to the good stuff. 5 more pounds till the 100 pound mark (since surgery, not including pre-op loss) I feel damn good about myself.  I’m actually stealing Dan’s jeans, which makes him unhappy, but since he had to buy new ones anyway, its ok. I can almost get those on too, give me about 15 more pounds and I think it will happen.

Work has been busy, we have a lot of restructuring and other crazy goodness going on. I’m still not sure who my manager is now. But I just keep doing my job, and hope someday to have a “hi, I’m your new manager, nice to meet you” email. Joe.. something.

I’m getting back into workouts hardcore, it’s all part of my master evil plan.

So, without further ado, here is the Christmas/Holiday picture goodness :

The calm before the storm, thank you to the many generous family members who made Christmas so wonderful for my kids.

Santa Came!!

That weekend, we visited the Seattle Children’s museum, it was our first time there and the girls had a blast!

So as you can see, we’ve been very active lately. We have several upcoming visits to look forward to from both family and friends, and we’re really really hoping to be able to get home sometime this summer. The most challenging part will be finding a house/pet sitter that isn’t intimidated by the birds and is willing to stay for a week.

Dan and I try to raise strong, confident children. There is evidence that this is working.

Scene: Amelia, Dan and I are playing computer games. Amelia is on Nickjr. com

Amelia: I’m really good at this swiper game.

Dan: Yeah, you’re good at those games

Amelia: Yeah, I’m pretty good at these games, thats why I’m so great.

Confident.. if not slightly egotistic..

There were a couple today.

Scene 1 : We’re sitting around the dinner table. Gretchen reaches for Dan’s glass, and he hands it to her. She attempts to take a drink, then immediately flips it upside down, all over the table and herself.

Me: OMG

Dan: I didn’t know she was going to tip it upside down.

Me: ….

Dan: Well I didn’t!

Me: …….

Scene 2: Amelia and Gretchen are sitting on the couch, Gretchen has gotten into a head-flipping phase. She and Amelia are playing and BAM, head slam right into Amelia’s cheek. We got her comforted, and she had resumed her spot on the loveseat watching The Good Night Show, and I happened to look up. Massive shiner. So now she has been thoroughly spoiled with a brownie, pop and almonds for a snack, and is happily watching Caillou. It’s a good thing I cancelled pictures on Saturday, because they both look like we beat them now.  She is being very cooperative about holding the ice on her eye though.

Look Mom! a MOUSE!

Oh, its not edible?

Alright, I guess I’ll just play then..

Another Example: While I was shopping Sunday, Gretchen was at the play area in the mall with her father and grandfather. Instead of playing with the other kids, she was trying to jack some lady’s iphone by luring her in with big blue puppy dog eyes before attempting to make off with it. Luckily, her father intervened instead of letting her begin a life of e-crime.

On a side (and totally unrelated) note, I logged into MSN this morning, and saw this article .All I have to say is Thank GOD my inlaws are not like this! I think I’m one of the lucky ones though. I can’t believe this is actually enough of a problem that they have to write articles like these.

It’s 7:49 am, Dan, Dad and myself are all up. Both of the kids are still in bed.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE???

Normally on the weekends my kids are up and running around before Dan and I are even coherent enough to scream at them for jumping on the couch, sticking their hands in the aquariums, and pulling the dogs around the house by their ears. Of course, this might have something to do with Gretchen missing her bedtime by almost 2 hours last night, and Amelia missing hers by 3 hours.

(Note: as I’m writing this, Amelia came stumbling out asking if she is going to Katie’s today)

I was going to watch the South Park I missed this week, but now I am going to watch Noggin instead. At least she is sitting quietly on the couch yawning.

At least I got to watch The Simpsons last night.
